Personal Status Law

Personal Status and Family

Personal status matters are among the most sensitive a client can face. We handle them for UAE nationals and residents before the UAE’s personal status courts, with the confidentiality they require.

Most family disputes first go through family guidance, where many end in reconciliation or settlement, so we prepare clients carefully for that stage. Where agreement is not possible, we handle divorce and khula, maintenance and housing, and custody and visitation.

For foreign nationals and non-Muslims, we explain the law that applies to their matters. Our work also covers the registration of wills, determination of heirs, division of estates and enforcement of foreign family judgments.

Authorities: family guidance committees, the family courts and the Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court.

Who we act for: spouses and parents, heirs, and non-Muslim residents.
